How it works

FOXO4-DRI is an experimental senolytic peptide designed to selectively induce apoptosis in senescent cells by disrupting the FOXO4-p53 interaction. While it has shown significant rejuvenation effects in aged and chemotherapy-treated mice, there are currently no completed human clinical trials to verify safety or efficacy.

It competes with endogenous FOXO4 for p53 binding; by blocking this interaction, p53 is released to trigger programmed cell death specifically in senescent cells.

Safety

  • Experimental compound with no long-term human safety data.
  • Targets the p53 pathway, which is a critical tumor suppressor; interference carries theoretical oncogenic risks.
  • Potential for off-target effects on healthy cells expressing FOXO4.
