What it's actually good for
How it works
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring tripeptide with high affinity for copper, extensively studied for skin regeneration and tissue repair. Evidence strongly supports its topical use for collagen synthesis and anti-aging, while systemic (injectable) evidence for longevity and recovery is largely based on animal models and pilot human data.
It modulates gene expression related to tissue repair and antioxidant enzymes while facilitating copper uptake into cells for enzyme function, such as lysyl oxidase for collagen cross-linking.
Safety
- Systemic use may impact copper/zinc balance; monitoring is advised.
- High doses of copper can be toxic; do not exceed the tolerable upper limit of 10mg total copper per day.
- Injection site irritation is a common side effect of subcutaneous use.
